Airbnb, VRBO and Short-Term Rentals: Schedule E or Schedule C?

CATEGORY: Taxation
COURSE ID: W754T, VERSION 1.00
(1)
  Webinar
1 CPE Credits
Level: Basic
Your client has converted a personal residence (or a portion thereof) to a short-term rental advertised on an online marketplace (e.g., VRBO or Airbnb). The rental income and related expenses should be reported on Schedule E (Supplement Income and Loss), Form 1040, right? Not so fast.

Recent IRS guidance reminds us that while certain short-term rental activities are properly reported on Schedule E, others are instead properly reported on Schedule C (Profit or Loss from Business).

This webinar will tackle the IRS recent guidance and highlight the key considerations that tax practitioners must evaluate when determining the proper reporting for short-term residential rentals.

THIS WEBINAR IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CTEC CREDIT.

Who should attend: Business and individual tax preparers.

Instructor: Laurie A. Stillwell, CPA
