This course provides an understanding of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and other related programs that are designed to provide tax advantages to offset health care costs. Although this course is entitled Benefits and Disadvantages of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), this course also covers: Medical savings accounts (MSAs) including Archer (MSAs) and Medicare Advantage (MSAs); Health flexible spending arrangements (FSAs); and Health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs). This course covers the applicable tax rules, how an individual can be eligible for one of these programs and how to make contributions and receive distributions. This course also addresses the benefits and disadvantages of health savings accounts and the other programs covered in this course. Finally, this course covers how to report the contributions and distributions from HSAs and the other programs on a taxpayer's tax return.
This course is most beneficial to professionals new to health savings accounts who may be at the staff or entry level in an organization but also for an experienced professional with limited exposure to this subject.
